Hanseo University, (located in Seosan, on the Korean west coast 1hr 30 minutes south of Seoul) is seeking a full-time English instructor to join our foreign faculty from 1st semester 2009, starting last week February, for classes beginning from the first week of March.
Note: We are seeking one more English teaching faculty member as one of the eleven people we have hired has had to pull out for family reasons at the last minute.
So yes, there is just one position still available and you would be placed in either of the two following departments depending on qualifications:
(1) General Studies English:
This position requires degrees in any field with appropriate English teaching experience (please see minimum requirements further below). The classes to be taught are non-elective freshmen English studies.
(2) English Department:
This position involves teaching English major students, and elective English courses, including academic writing. This position requires a higher degree in English, TESOL, or Linguistics; or several years of commensurate experience.
IMPORTANT: This position is for foreign residents currently IN KOREA only! F2, or F4 or F5 visa holders in particular are encouraged to apply. Although if you have ALL the required documentation ready and are renewing an E2 or E1 visa, then you are also welcome to apply.
-Qualifications/Experience Requirements: (Please read carefully!)
The MINIMUM requirements for application to all positions above are as follows;
*Ph.D in related field (salary negotiable based on experience).
*Master's Degree + 1 year university experience (or 2 years in public school/institute/etc).
*Bachelor's Degree + 3 years university experience (or 6 years public school/institute/etc).
-Pay/conditions;
*2 semesters of teaching 9 x 1.5 hour classes per week.
*Plus 3 weeks in either summer or winter special program (3 hours a day x 15 days)
*The pay is 30million won per year (2.5 million per month), increasing by 1 million won each year of contract renewa, currently capped at 35 million won in the 6th year.
*Each professor has 1 "research day" off per week.
*Basic private (non-shared) beside campus housing is provided for singles.
*For married professors 375 000won housing allowance will be provided.
(Assistance with locating local housing can also be provided).
-Vacation:
*There are 11 full weeks of vacation per year, including 7 in winter and 4 to 5 in summer, the other 6 weeks of non-teaching time is made up of grading periods, and the like.
