CHA UNIVERSITY in Pocheon-si. Gyeonggi-do (35 km northeast of Seoul, past Uijeong-bu City) is seeking qualified full-time English instructors.
CHA University is a health science university managed by CHA Health Systems which include various medical centers such as Bundang CHA Medical Center, Gangnam CHA Medical Center, Hollywood-CHA Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, USA, as well as 4 other hospitals and research institutes in Korea. We are admitting additional students to our university in 2012 and expanding our English program.
Qualifications
(minimum requirement)
◦ Native speaker of English with teaching experience
◦ Bachelor's degree in humanities or sciences from an accredited educational institution.
◦ Understanding of basic ESL teaching methods expected
◦ TESOL/ CELTA certificate holders preferred
◦ University teaching experience preferred
◦ Possess good communication skills
◦ Be culturally sensitive
Duties & responsibilities
◦ Basic teaching hours are 18 per week. Overtime teaching is available. Teachers will teach English conversation, Composition, Reading & Discussion, English through Movies / Drama during the 16 week semesters.
◦ Teachers are expected to perform duties related to teaching such as keeping student academic records, making and administering tests, grading student homework, etc.
◦ Attend staff meeting once a week
◦ Contribute to curriculum design
◦ Hold four office hours per week for consultation with students
◦ Attend school events when requested
1) Basic pay : 2,300,000 won per month for teaching 18 hours a week (B.A.)
For(B.A.+ more than 3yrs university teaching experience)- 2,400,000 won per month
2) Overtime teaching hours paid at 20,000 won per hour
3) Studio apartment near campus (instructor pays utilities) provided
4) Medical insurance
5 Eight weeks of paid vacation (4 in summer, 4 in winter) per year
6) severence pay upon successful completion of the contract
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Our school is a health science university located in a rural area in Gyeonggi Province. Ground transportation is easily accessible to the metropolis of Seoul by taking the inter-city bus or the local bus and subway to and from Uijeongbu-City.
It's about 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from Gangnam in Seoul, and about an hour and half from the City Hall by public transportation. The school was founded by the Sungkwang Medical Foundation which operates seven major hospitals and health care centers in Seoul(Gangnam CHA Medical Center), Bundang(Bundang CMC), Daegu(Deagu CHA Women's hospital), and Kumi(Kumi CMC). We now operate the first Korean-owned general hospital in the USA, the Hollywood-CHA Presbyterian Medical Center in Hollywood, CA, USA. The School currently maintains two campuses, one in Pocheon and the other in Bundang and has several graduate schools in Gangnam.
