English Communication I & II: compulsory General Education subjects for
freshmen
Other credit/non-credit teaching opportunities: English Conversation
(6 Levels), Current Issues, Business English, Current Economic Issues,
Cultural English, Essay Writing, TOEFL, TOEIC, Teacher Education Programs,
English Camps for university students of varying lengths, etc.
5. Teaching Load
12 hours per week
• Professors all teach 16-weeks in each of the Spring and Fall Semesters.
• Professors are required to teach in either the summer or winter vacation
period if (though unlikely) requested, for which overtime rates apply.
6. Education and Experience Requirements
Full-Time Language Lecturer:
1. Master’s Degree
2. three years of university-equivalent teaching experience
Assistant Language Professor:
1. Master’s Degree
2. nine years of university-equivalent teaching experience
Associate Language Professor:
1. Master’s Degree
2. fourteen years of university-equivalent teaching experience
• One year of university-equivalent experience is calculated as follows:
- elementary schools: 0.5 years
- middle and high schools: 0.6 years
- college and university (contract on National Pension Service): 0.7 years
- college and university (contract on Korea Teachers Pension/Government
mployees Pension): 1.0
• Graduate education will be counted in full up to two years for a master's
degree and up to 3 years for a doctoral degree.
• If the time lines of some of your experiences overlap, only the experience
that receives the highest weight will count.
• Although those applying for professor positions may have a master's degree
in any discipline, preference is given to those who additionally have a
120-hour TESOL certification or their master’s degree in education or TESOL.
• Applicants who also have experience in teacher training and/or curriculum
development will be given priority.
7. Salary and Benefits
Full-Time Language Lecturer: 2,702,590 won and up per month
Assistant Language Professor: 3,132,780 won and up per month
Associate Language Professor: 3,562,970 won and up per month depending on
experience
• Overtime pay: 25,000 won per hour or more
• National Health Insurance: 50/50
• Korean Teachers Pension enrollment with monthly premiums made by the
professor, the university, and the government
• A university-owned apartment with basic furnishings is provided when
vailable. If there are no vacancies, a housing allowance of 450,000 won per
month is provided.
