POSITION AVAILABLE: Full-time Instructor of College English in the General Education Division of Chung-Ang University. This position is a full-time, biannually renewable contract assignment, which includes regular teaching speech and writing courses.
NUMBER OF INSTRUCTORS TO BE RECRUITED: FIFTEEN(15)
STARTING DATE: September 1, 2009
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess a Master's degree or more, from an accredited institution, in social sciences and humanities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Teacher’s credential, CELTA, RSA certificate
2. Experience in teaching college English courses in Korean or other Asian colleges.
3. English related majors are preferred.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1. Teach College English courses at varying skill levels for a minimum of 18 hours per week during spring and fall semesters. Additionally, instructors are required to teach 48 hours during each two-month-long inter-session ? summer & winter. Instructors may teach additional hours for additional pay.
2. Participate in curriculum development, the evaluation and revision of courses, course materials, instructional methods, self-study, program review and master plan.
3. Serve on departmental/college committees.
4. Advise students on academic matters.
COMPENSATION: Annual salary at 40,000,000 Won (approximately $31,000 based upon the foreign exchange rate 1,300 Won per 1 dollar). Any more additional courses than required will be paid at the rate of 45,000 Won per hour. Fringe benefits package includes housing fee (500,000 Won per month) plus subsidized medical insurance and pension.
